Five Ways to Say Bye-bye Puffy Eyes

Our personality and attitude are expressed through eyes. It determines if you look young and fresh or tired or even fierce. We all wish the moment we wake up in the morning with the bright-eyed and bushy tailed. But, somehow is a bit impossible for most of us. Whether, we stay to late to watched our favourite Netflix series and crying when watching the sappy episode or just not enough sleep at night. Whatever the case, we are suffering from puffy eyes and it isn’t pretty sight. Puffy eyes are caused by excess fluid in the connective tissue around the eyes.

These five quicks, easy, and natural solutions will mean you can get rid of those puffy, and dark circles. Be sure to keep your eyes closed with all these treatments. Some will be drippy and may run into your eyes, but all of them are non-toxic and won’t harm you. If your eyes do become irritated, you may be allergic or sensitive to the ingredients, so just rinse with warm water.

Here are my Five Ways DIY to get rid of puffy eyes using natural ingredients from your own kitchen mostly :

1. CHAMOMILE TEA

Chamomile is used as a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, which is what make it perfect for puffy eyes.

Make yourself a cup of chamomile tea, using 2 teabags. Let the teabags cool down and then lie down and place the bags over your closed eye for 10 minutes. You can also do this with loose leaf tea-simply brew the tea, then dip cotton pads or scraps of clean cotton cloth into the tea. Leave to cool, then place these over your eyes in the same way as tea bags.

2.POTATOES

Potatoes reduce puffiness. It sound crazy but it works. Don’t ask anymore question, just try it :).

Slice potatoes into thin rounds, large enough to cover your eyes, then wet them. Lie down and place the slices over your eyes for 10 minutes.

3.EYEBRIGHT

Eyebright has been used medicinally for thousand of years. It has properties that brighten tired eyes and can reduce inflammation and itchiness, so is perfect for hay fever.

Pour 300ml water into small pan, add 20g dried eyebright and bring to the boil. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat and leave to cool. Once cool, strain into a sterilised jar. Use by soaking cotton pads (or pieces of clean cloth, big enough to fit over each eye) in the eyebright liquid. Lie down and press the pads over your closed eyes for 10-15 minutes.

4.RING a RING O’ROSES

Roses are anti-ageing and have tightening effect. Over time they can reduce appearance of wrinkles too. Great for reducing the crow’s feet around your eyes.

In a pestle and mortar, smoosh together a handful of unsprayed fresh rose petals with a tiny drizzle of rose water. Lie down, closed your eyes and pat a little scoop of the mix onto each eye. Leave for 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Don’t make it too watery, otherwise it won’t stay in your eyes.

5. EGG WHITES

Egg whites tighten your skin and shrink pores too, so whilst you’re lying down, massage a little onto your face.

Simply whisk 2-3 egg whites in a bowl until stiff peaks form. Lie down, close your eyes and pot a little scoop onto each eye. Leave for 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.
