Salty Macadamia Hair Spritz
You might not expect this, but salt is actually an incredible hydrator. It is also wonderful for that just-went-for-a-quick-surf-before-work look. The macadamia oil helps to keep the hair extra nourished.
- 250ml boiled water, cooled to warm
- 1 tablespoon good-quality salt
- 1 tablespoon macadamia oil
- recycle spray bottle
Pour the warm water into a jug and stir in the salt until completely dissolved, than stir in the macadamia oil. Pour into recycled spray bottle, then shake before each use. Store in a cool, dark place and use within 3 months.
To use, spritz onto wet or dry hair, keeping your eyes closed, as often as needed.
Peppermint Hair Mask
My absolute favourite DIY recipe is actually a hair mask, since keeping my hair long and healthy puts me in my beauty comfort zone :).
- 4 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 5 drops peppermints essential oil
After mixing the ingredients, apply the mask to your dry hair, starting at the scalp, and let it sit for 20-30 minutes, then wash it out. You may have to shampoo twice to completely rinse it clean. The coconut oil really moisturizes the scalp, use this mask once a week or every other week to keep your hair looking its best :).
Most woman will spent close to $50 to add a little bounce to their mane. Beer is the less expensive alternative. So next time you need a little oomph, grab that leftover beer-it’s the ultimate conditioner for hair.
- 1 tablespoon of your favorite shampoo
- 1 teaspoon flat beer
- 1 egg yolk
Mix the ingredients together, then use it as your shampoo. Leave on 5-10 minutes, then rinse well. Now put little more beer on your hair in the shower for the ultimate in double conditioning. Your hair will be so full and shinny! 🙂
